Coal-fired power station owned by German utility at Maasvlakte near Rotterdam, Netherlands.

is modernising its coal fired power station at Maasvlakte near Rotterdam in Holland. The new power station will have an installed capacity of 1,100 MW and be able to cover about 7% of Dutch electricity demand. Maasvlakte is favourably located by Rotterdam's deep-water port and is therefore one of the best sites in Europe for a coal-fired power station. The station will burn pulverised coal which increases efficiency by up to 4% and reducing CO2 emissions by approx 20%.
