West Bank, Palestine. 27 September 2019. Sobhi Jaradat, 57, has been making straw brooms for nearly 15 years in the West Bank village of Zububa, in the Jenin governorate. To produce the brooms, Jaradat uses a special kind of corn, which is grown by local farmers from early April and requires care until the end of July. The corn stalks are harvested, cleaned from the seeds and then taken to the craftsman creating the brooms. In Palestine, the art of broom making with straw has been passed on from generations and preserved by a few skilled craftsmen such as Sobhi
