Oare Gunpowder works, Corning House.
Gunpowder production started around 1499-1538, making it the earliest gunpowder factory in Britain, until it s closure in 1934. It is said that 36 barrels of gunpowder made at Faversham were used by Guy Fawkes and the other conspirators in their plot to blow up the old Houses of Parliament in 1605.
