Records indicate that the average amount of laborrequired to harvest an acre of wheat in southeastern Pennsvlvania. western Illinoisand Kansas is about 3 man and 4 horse hours, and in thrashing about the sjimeamount. In California, with a combine harvester, the figures are 2 man and 10 horsehours per acre; and in eastern Washington, with combine, 2 man and S horse hours,without a combine man and 3 horse hours to harvest and mau and horsehours to thrash an acre. The seeding of spring wheat begins in northeastern Nebraska andwestern Iowa usually about March 21. and during the following ten days it beginsthroughout most of South Dakota and in Minnesota south of the Minnesota River. ByApril 11 it IS beginning in northern North Dakota and north central Minnesota.
