One of our earliest and most delicious sorts, and one that is sure to give the best results. Per pkt. 5 cts.; oz. 10 cts. ; lb. 25 cts.; lb. 70 cts. Golden Netted Gem. Although many excel- lent shipping and family melons, such as our Wood's Perfection and Brooks' Nutmeg, have been recently introduced, the Golden Netted Gem still holds its own in point of popularity. The flesh is thick and of a light green color, and of the finest flavor. The melons grow remark- ably uniform, weighing from one-and a-half to two pounds each. In some sections of Virginia and Maryland this sort is more largely grown for the Baltimore, Philadelphia and New York markets than any others. An old standard varie- ty, and a general favorite both for family and market. It is of large size, with rough, netted skin, of alight green color when ripe. The flesh is thick, green and very sweet.
