Jeremy Taylor was a writer and clergyman in the time of the Civil Wars. He is famous for his writing style which is compares with some of the greatest of writers. He was a royalist and under the patronage of Archbishop Laud. He was imprisoned when Laud was tried and executed. He regained favour after the restoration. His many writings have gained him a position of significance in the church-
