A naval officer's sabre, Navy, circa 1840 Slightly curved, single-edged blade, etched with trophies, anchor, and oak leaves. The maker's inscription, " Horstmann & Compn." stamped on the ricasso. Gold-plated hilt with folding oval guard plates displaying oak branches on the obverse sides. Quillons terminates in acorns. The grip cap bears an eagle head, carved ivory grip. Length 81 cm.
