Co. moves the bent piece A, which forces back the latch-bolt. Thetongue, C, which locks the outside-knob, is pushed in or out bythe buttons on the face-plate. It is not intended to use thislock with a swivel-spindle, but when the knob is locked by thetongue C, a spindle and cam at D serve to throw back thelatch from the inside of the door. The arrangement of thelevers B is defective in this lock, in that they will not work FR ONT-D 0 OR L 0 CKS. 207 should the springs give out. Levers which act by gravity, aswell as with springs, would seem to be more suitable. The lock represented by Figure 327, is one of Robinsonsbest make, being sold, with the corresponding vestibule lock,at $14 per set.
