Extinction Rebellion blue plaque on Staines Bridge over river Thames, Surrey, UK, Dirty Water 20th October 2021, protesting dumping of raw sewage
On 28th January 2023, Staines Extinction Rebellion installed blue plaques on Staines bridge over the river Thames to shine a light on the local MP, Kwasi Kwarteng, who on 20/10/21 voted to block amendment 45 to the Environment Act 2021. The amendment would have required water companies to "demonstrate improvements in the sewage systems and progressive reductions in the harm caused by untreated sewage discharges.
