Florist in Rotary ing plants home-grown for the Easter trade. His retail business proved to be a record-breaker. John W. Foote, of Reading, has a superior lot of carnations this season. His varieties are Pink Delight, White Wonder, Ward, Matchless and Benora. He also has two houses of asparagus which are yielding a good return. The W. W. Edgar Co. had only a few salable plants left April 7. Lilies were sold out, 15,000 pots, and the houses had a cyclonic appearance. This week the force is busy giving more space to Me- morial day plants, cyclamens and bed- ding stock. At Penn's business was on a tremen- dous scale. Lily sales had to be refused early Saturday, April 7. The same ap- plied to violets, of which hundreds of thousands were sold. Rambler roses in fancy baskets sold in great numbers; also azaleas, French hydrangeas and genistas. A greatly enlarged store force, night and day work and numerous de- livery autos were needed to cope with the business. Thomas Capers, of Wellesley Hills, had a heavy crop of White Wonder, Beacon, Alice and Benora carnations for Easter; also, the first of a fine cut of pink snapdragons. The Houghton-Gorney Co. had a splen- did Easter business. I noted in its store extra fine acacias, boronias, bougainvil- leas, double cherries, ericas. Pink Pearl rhododendrons and cymbidiums. S. J. Goddard, of Framingham, made shipments of extra fine Laddie, Pink
