Haleakala High Altitude Observatory, operated by the University of Hawaii, is located on top of the volcano in Haleakala National Park on Maui. This picture shows the northwest side of the facility that is occupied by the Air Force Maui Space Surveillance Complex. The most prominent structure is the Advanced Electro-Optical System facility (AEOS) that houses a telescope. The two white domes are part of the Maui Space Surveillance System (MSSS). The eastern (left) dome houses a Cassegrain telescope while the western (right) dome houses a twin telescope mount with optics.
