'The Constitution and the Guerriere', c1813. On the 19 August 1812, the American heavy frigate USS 'Constitution' engaged with the British frigate HMS 'Guerriere'. The British vessel was severely damaged in the battle and surrendered to the Americans. Too badly damaged to be taken in, the 'Guerriere' was set on fire and sank.
