Ankle arthroscopy preparation. Patient's foot next to arthroscopy instruments on a hospital bed. Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to examine the interior of a joint, in this case the ankle. A small incision is made in the skin, and an arthroscope (a thin fibre- optic tube) is inserted into the joint. During the examination, a biopsy can be taken, debris can be removed and some ligament damage can be repaired.
