The cumulus band is a frequent feature of the stream from space and is caused by the convection when cool dry continental air is heated by the stream. This feature follows the Gulf Stream front quite well as seen in the image and can be used as an ancillary feature for identification of the stream. Horizontal distance across the image is 90 km. 446.
