TBADE CONTINUES QUIET. As usually happens after a holiday trade, the business of the past week was very slow, but picked up some- what Saturday, December 5. Nearly every line of business in this city is quiet and the florists feel the effects of the depression. If business was active the market would soon clean up for at present the supply is not heavy. Roses are doing as well as can be ex- pected under present conditions. Car- nations and violets and what chrysan- themums that arrive seem very slow. Orchids and gardenias also seem to hang heavy on the hands of the deal- ers. Both the rose and carnation stock seems to be particularly good for this stage of the season. December 7.—A northeast storm of wind and rain, which began on the evening of December 5, continued throughout December G and has in- creased in violence today. This has had a depressing effect on business, having for the time being practically killed counter trade. Indications point to continued bad weather. The outlook for business during this week is not promising. There is some improve- ment in lilies, quotations being from $0 t<r$8. Lily of the valley are quoted at from $ to $ with no sign of improvement. NOTES.
