Carbon capture research. Laboratory apparatus being used to study carbon capture methods. Carbon dioxide capture and storage (CCS) is a measure designed to reduce global emissions of carbon dioxide. CCS technologies are being developed that will trap the CO2 emitted from power stations and industrial plants and store it below the ground, potentially mitigating climate change. This process is also known as carbon sequestration. Photographed in 2014, at the National Physical Laboratory, Teddington, UK.
