A Southern German black and white morion, Southern German, circa 1580. A two-piece hammered skull with a tall blank comb. The skull has embossed fleur-de-lis on both sides, and a plume socket at the rear. Surrounding lining rivets with brass rosettes (one missing). The brims rise to a point and have turned under edges (one side slightly cracked and bulged). The interior has remnants of the original leather lining.
