The mucous membrane was then elevated from the anteriorsurface of the sphenoid so that the ostia of the sinuses were clearlylirought into view. The anterior wall and intersinous septum of thesphenoid were removed by means of small blunt iiooks and Lucsethmoidal forceps. The sinuses were symmetrical, and there was noliidging to indicate the position of the pituitary fossa. The position ofI he pituitary fossa was found by taking a line which commences at theimiction of the alfe nasi and upper lip,
