Juba port: large river cargo barges are tied up at the dock. Some also carry southerners returning to register in the referendum

JUBA, SOUTHERN SUDAN, December 2010: Southern Sudanese return from Khartoum and other other areas of the north in order to regstister for the referendum scheduled for January 9, 2010, that will decide the future of Africa's largest country. Returnees camped out under the mango trees at Juba Port arrive with all their belongings - some with just a few bags and others with beds and furniture. The journey can take up to a month with families living in cramped conditions. Photo by Mike Goldwater / Christian Aid
