postcard. 227. CONDÉ (Louis-Joseph, Prince de) Son of Louis Henri, duke of Bourbon who was 1st Minister under Louis XV. He was one of the first to emigrate and formed the army known as the Condé army in 1789. In 1795, he formed a conspiracy with Pichegru, but it failed; he then joined the pay of Tsar Paul I. At the Restoration, he returned to France and received from Louis XVIII the titles of Grand Master of the King's household and Colonel General of the infantry. He died in Chantilly, in 1818. He was the grandfather of the unfortunate duke of Enghien, shot at Vincennes in 1804
