IT is so easy for a merchant to convince himself thatthe time datings are to his advantage, that one issurprised that the advantages of cash payment arenot more fully dwelt upon by the traveller and thesupply house. Primarily the wonder is that any-thing has to be said in favor of it, but, since it is sucha general thing- to accept the long datings without reallyreasoning out the results, much might be done by the tra-veller or by trade journals in drawing the attention ofbuyers to the fact that both money and credit are gainedby accepting the cash discounts.
