I Want You for the Army

Arguably the most iconic military recruiting poster ever made in the USA. Flagg's 1917 poster was based on the original British Lord Kitchener poster of three years earlier. It was used to recruit soldiers for both World War I and World War II. Flagg used a modified version of his own face for Uncle Sam, and veteran Walter Botts provided the pose. James Montgomery Flagg (1877 – 1960) was an American artist and illustrator. He is most famous for his war effort posters but he also work for magazines, did cartoons, and even paintings. Uncle Sam points at "you" to do your duty.
