Warty Frogfish (Antennarius maculatus) Lembeh Straits North Sulawesi, Indonesia

Warty frogfish (Antennarius maculatus) inhabits coral reefs in the tropical Indo-Pacific region. It is a lie-in-wait predator that attracts its prey using a lure which is a highly-modified fin that resembles a small fish or worm. When prey approaches, it gulps it in by increasing the volume of its mouth by up to 12 times, which creates a powerful suction. The frogfish rarely swims, preferring to walk around on modified fins that act as legs
