Habits.—Like the other thick-bodied desert lizards, thisspecies is largely herbivorous. It feeds upon buds, small flowersand tender leaves. Captive specimens will greedily eat the * Note the proportionately small head. 109 The Iguanas blossoms of red clover, swallowing each flower practically en-tire, after but superficial attempts at mastication.
