A large group of Hmong people is gathered in front of the Xiang Khoang (Xieng Khouang) post office awaiting remittance from relatives who reside in the United States of America (USA). The Hmongs living in the United States today came from Laos, a small landlocked country in mainland Southeast Asia. Each month thousands of Hmong-Americans send money to the relatives they left behind after the Second Indochina War. This ethnic group originated from the Chinese provinces of Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, & Hunan.
