General Neville awards the Croix de guerre to the Duke of Aoste. Prince Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy-Aoste, 2nd Duke of Aoste (13 January 1869 – 4 July 1931) was a member of the House of Savoy, Crown Prince of Spain from 1870 to 1873, and a cousin of Victor Emmanuel III of Italy. During the First World War the Duke of Aoste commanded the Italian Third Army, which gained the nickname of Armata invitta ('undefeated army'). 1917
