In March, 1882, when the Denver Paid Fire Department was organized, hewas appointed assistant chief and superintendent of fire alarms, and in thefollowing November, 1882, he became chief engineer of the department, whichposition he has filled to the satisfaction of the citizens of Denver ever since. Mr. Pearse is also one of the organizers of the Colorado State FiremensAssociation, having served as president of said association the first and secondyear of its existence, 1S76 and 1877. Windsor, Warren, Warren County, Pa., was elected foreman oflJuly 3,1883; re-elected t wice; and in April, 1886 elected chief from an unexpiredterm of foreman and given the honor of being the youngest chief in Pennsylva-nia. He is now a member of t he Xalional Association of Fire Kngineers, and un-doulitedly its youngest member. He has charge of one hundred and ninety-three men, three hose, one truck, one steamer and hydrant system. He ist wenty-six years of age. GEORGE C. Fager, Sr., is the oldest fireman in the State of Pennsylvania inactive service. He w as born in Harrisburgin 1S14, and is now nearly srventy-1 woyears of age, but as a fireman in the brave and energetic discharge of a firemansduty, he has no equal; and he displays a zeal and an activity that might wellbe envied by young men not half his age.
