Footprints of a Kid on a fragment ofsun-dried brick. a space in the shape of a tongue about15 feet in diameter. The entrance tothe sacred enclosure was formed by anarrow passage between the extremityof this tongue and the massive wall. Aquantity of burnt bricks was found here, as well as outside the low curvedwall and also within it. A section of a portion of the moundfrom south to north, given in the cutNo. 1567, will illustrate the statementsjust made, and render them easier tounderstand. We have first of all thenatural rock (No. 1567,1); then comesa stratum of sundried bricks (No. 15C7,2), 1 foot in thickness. The uniformlybright red colour of these shows thatthey have been subjected to a strongheat. Next (No. 1567, 3) follows astratum of clay, representing the de-composed sun-dried bricks which havefallen from the walls, of which onlythe lower part has been thickness of the portion of the
