In Samoa, a very thorough survey was made of the harbor of Pago Pago in Tutuila, so that so far as the Leodicidae are concerned this work can claim to be exhaustive for that locality. Only a few annelids from other families were collected and none equaled the Leodicidae in number of species or abundance. The Leodicidae occur especially in the reef rocks and are not represented in the mud of the upper harbor. Apparently this is due to the large quantities of fresh water which flow into the upper end of the harbor, making a brackish-water condition in which only a few Terebellids and Capitellidids can live. I found a similar condition at Fagaalu and 129.
