Clarified sugarcane (Saccharum sp.) juice samples (yellow liquid) being tested for cane sugar content. The juice is being filtered using filter paper and will then be run through a saccharimeter, a device for determining sugar concentration. Sugarcane juice can be used to produce ethanol, offering a renewable, less environmentally harmful source of fuel. It is already widely used as such in countries like Brazil.
