Empress Meng, also known as Zhaoche and Yuanyou, was the consort of Emperor Zhezong. They did not get along, due to Meng having been chosen for the emperor by Empress Dowager Regent Gao. She was falsely accused of witchcraft, stripped of her title and sent to a Daoist nunnery. This spared her from the Jingkang Incident, when the Jurchen captured the entire royal family, and she was appointed as regent of the Jurchen's puppet dynasty Da Chu
