Crocketed pinnacles and other medieval Gothic architectural features depicted in fragments of stained glass in the Parish Church of St. Laurence at Hawkhurst, Kent, England, United Kingdom, which lost most of its ancient glass when a German V1 flying bomb exploded in the churchyard in August 1944, during the Second World War. Extensive damage caused by the blast was not fully repaired until 1957. A few pieces of retrieved ancient glass were made into a new roundel, and metal shrapnel from the V1 itself is now displayed in the church.

Hawkhurst, Kent, England, United Kingdom: crocketed pinnacles and other medieval Gothic architectural features depicted in a fragment of stained glass in the Parish Church of St. Laurence, which lost most of its ancient glass when a German V1 flying bomb exploded in the churchyard in August 1944, during the Second World War. The extensive damage caused by the explosion was not fully repaired until 1957. A few pieces of the shattered ancient glass were saved and painstakingly re-assembled into a new roundel, and twisted metal shrapnel from the flying bomb itself is now displayed on a windowsill within the church.
