The result is the formation of two alar flaps (Fig. 302,) with externalpedicles and a considerable wound due to the excision of all the scar tissue atthe level of the lower part of the nasal bones. Step 2.—Formation of new septum: (a) Much of the cartilaginous septumis present and on it is part of the cutaneous septum. Puncture the septum ata point slightly behind the future pedicle (Fig. 300). From this puncture dividethe septum close and parallel to the floor of the nose until the vomer is reached.
