The 'Nieuw Amsterdam' Dutch ocean liner built in Rotterdam for the Holland America Line. It was the most popular ship of the 30s besides the Queen Mary. Construction on the new liner was carried out at the Rotterdam Dry-dock Company. Christened by Queen Wilhelmina in April 1937,
