Ammonite fossil. Internal cast of an ammonite fossil from the Jurassic (200 to 145 million years ago). The case shows individually preserved chambers within the coiled shell. Ammonites, now extinct, were marine invertebrate molluscs with a spiral shell. Most were less than 20 centimetres across.
