H V V shou,d the Sweetest of All Melons This is a question that will doubtless occur to many TV II I ⢠t,e described among Pumpkins ⢠of our customers. The reason is this: Owing to the immense edition of our Catalogue it is necessary to begin its preparation very early. This space was devoted to a new mammoth pumpkin, when, after the page "was electrotyped, but fortunately before the "form" had gone to press, we received word just now (the first of October, 1896) that early frosts would prevent a sufficient quantity of seed of this pumpkin from ripening. Therefore we must omit the pumpkin and describe here the "KLECKLEY SWEETS " which we had intended offering on pink paper pages among NOVELTIES FOR 1897, where it properly belongs. In The Farm Annual for 1896, on page 22, we printed the following notice:â *' k^I Pr'K'I FV ^WFPT^ " Under this name is known a New Watermelon which aLUWlVLL I On L-d-r I O. has become celebrated already in Alabama. Mr. W. A. Kuecki/ey, the originator, wanted us to introduce it this year and furnished excellent testimony as to its value. We told him, however, that we must stick to our rale " to prove all things" before their introduction. Therefore we purchased two hundred pounds of the seed to distribute gratis for trial among our customers,âthen if the verdict is favorabie we shall introduce the KLECKLEY SWEETS as a New Watermelon in 1897. The reports received from every section, as well as our own trials, prove that the "KLECKLEY SWEETS" are the sweetest-flavored watermelons in cultivation.
