Alaska Army Guard Staff Sgt. Paul Oliver, the training noncommissioned officer and a squad leader for A Company, 1st Battalion, 297th Infantry Regiment, places unit insignia in the bottom of the Veterans Totem Pole after the completion of a Veterans Totem Pole raising ceremony in the city of Klawock on Prince of Wales Island, Aug. 18, 2018. The carver, Jon Rowan, a Marine Corps veteran, carved large identification tags for veterans to place their insignia on the totem pole.
