Beneath Aegir's feet is a sea creature. Ran is beneath the water, with a net and a ship with sailors—her prey—in the distance.

This 1905 illustration shows Ran and Aegir. According to Norse (Scandinavian) mythology, Aegir is a sea giant and the god of the sea and sea creatures. His wife is Ran, a sea goddess, and the two have nine daughters. It was said that Ran had a net so that she could ensnare all who ventured out to sea. You can see Ran beneath the water, with her net and a ship with sailors—her prey—in the distance. Beneath Aegir's feet is a sea creature.
