Nicholson finds Alice a wonderfully free carnation, which is going to give Pink Delight a tussle for supremacy. Matchless he likes well, but it is a slow opener in winter. He still finds Beacon the best scarlet, hav- ing discarded Champion. He has sev- eral plants of a pure white Benora which should prove a winner. Good Cheer, among the new varieties, is well liked; also, a white seedling of A. Roper's. His chrysanthemums are practically all cut now. The W. W. Edgar Co. sold a large number of azaleas, poinsettias, cycla- mens and 'Lorraines for Thanksgiving day. They have quantities of Mme. Petrick azaleas in bloom and also some nice Vervaeneana. All their Christmas plants are looking extra well. This week their stock of giganteum lilies will be potted up. Mrs. E. K. Farr, of Stoneham, is sending in an extra fine grade of carna- tions, the flowers being far superior to the general average seen here. Fenn, Benora, Yellow Prince, Ward, Match- less, Beacon and White Wonder are the leaders. Spencer sweet peas also are grown, for a late winter and spring crop. The Boston Cut Flower Co. reports good Thanksgiving business, with a good clean-up in nearly every line. R. E. Wadsworth & Co. are unusually successful carnation growers. Some of thei
