Schurichts valuablework: History of the Early Germans in Virginia, ai)pearedunder the auspices of this Society, making together with theSecretarys, the Treasurers Annual Reports, List of Members,and Obituary Tsotices, a stately volume of 362 pages. Two articles of original research were read in our meet-ings during the same period, neither of the authors, however,I am sorry to add, being oflficially connected with the subject of the first article by Dr, Eugene Cordell was abiographical sketch of Dr. Aai., a (lerman surgeon of therevolutionary army, and residing for a number of years inl^altimore City, where he also died. The other article by theRev. J, A, Weishaar of Annapolis, treated of Ilie GermanElement in Maryla
