When ^^W^XSm ^^^^^^^^^^^B^^^^^^ planted out in the open ground at the end of June, it grows luxuriantly, flowers withthe greatest profusion (the expandedblooms seeming to be even brighter incolor than when under glass), and pro-duces an admirable effect until cut downby the frost. The flowers are of a bril-liant rosy-scarlet color, peculiarly distinctbut most effective hue, about i to i^inches in diameter, and are producedsingly or in twos and threes from the axilsof ihe leaves, especially towards the sum-mit of the stem
