Diagnosis Differs from living species in lacking the distally projecting protuberance on the caudal surface of the head of the humerus; ventral tubercle in ventral view shorter and deeper. Coracoid with head projecting more ventrally and less medially than in living species. Distribution Early Pliocene, Quartzose Sand Member of the Varswater Formation at Langebaanweg, south-western Cape Province, South Africa. Etymology Greek kyma, wave, and trypetes, borer, from the habit of the living species of flying straight through the crests of waves.
