Aerial photograph of El Chichon crater after the eruption on March 28th and again on April 3rd and 4th 1982 destroying about 100 square kilometres of rainforest. A sulphur-laden plume of ash was shot kilometres into the atmoshere. Within weeks a sulphuric acid cloud encircled the earth, apparently affecting global weather patterns. (March 1984)
