Although it is late for Easter trade re- ports, it may be recorded that business was good, plants being plentiful and cut stock a bit scarce. All report a big business, the war scare not being felt. Several groceries and the 5 and 10- cent stores were heavily stocked with inferior plants, which were sold at low prices. If the local growers would grow high-grade pot plants they would not have to dispose of them at a sacrifice. One grower who deserves credit for quality pot plants is Joseph Streit, who has been in Detroit only a year. J. F. Sullivan had a quantity of fine lilies, the best in Detroit. Schroeter's Darwin tulips also deserve mention. J. Breit- meyer's Sons' Broadway store had a fine collection of orchid plants, which took well. Club Meeting. April 12 the Detroit Florists' Club held a meeting and the retailers and wholesalers had a somewhat lively de- bate. The retailers asserted Detroit had poor quality pot plants, while the whole- salers defended themselves. The Detroit flower show, at all flo- rists' stores April 1, 2 and 3, the club members agreed, was successful in in- ducing the placing of orders early in the week and in the advertising benefit to the florists. The idea is to be tried again for Mothers' day. The Florists' Bowling Club decided to bowl a few times more before closing the season. Philip Breitmeyer offered a pair of cuff links for the high average man. After the club meeting, April 12, the bowlers met at the Broadway alleys, with the following results.
