Gibraltar. 16th January, 2015. The British territory of Gibraltar has increased its alert status to "Substantial" in line with the UK and other British bases. The increased security measures has seen police officers instructed to patrol in pairs. Armed Patrol unit vehicles have also patrolled through the city centre this evening as part of the increased security measures. The increased security measures has seen police officers instructed to patrol in pairs. Armed Patrol unit vehicles have also patrolled through the city centre this evening as part of the increased security measures. The increased security measures have also seen all security measures in relation to synagogues in Gibraltar revised paralleling measures also enforced in the UK. The Royal Gibraltar Police this afternoon tweeted “Based on events in Europe, the security state in Gibraltar has been raised to SUBSTANTIAL. Remain vigilant, this is precautionary measure.”
