Lanterns are released in their thousands at the climax of the Yi Peng festival of light - a Buddhist festival celebrated yearly in Thailand. This image was taken at a gathering held near Chiang Mai in the country's northern region, and shows only a small fraction of the many numbers of lanterns that are released.
