Sunny cumulus clouds view, looking north to Rossall, sea waves battering Cleveleys Promenade at Fylde Coast Shipwreck Memorial

Wyre Council's £20 million new promenade sea change project at Cleveleys includes four mythological sculptures, including Mary's Shell (centre background) and Sea Swallow Sculpture (right mid-distance), from the children's book, 'Sea Swallow'. The Fylde Coast, battered by westerly gales, has been the graveyard for many ships over the ages. The Shipwreck Memorial, at the southern end of the promenade (right foreground) commemorates shipwrecks on the Fylde Coast 1643-2008. The names of the vessels, including Nelson's one-time flagship, HMS Foudroyant, wrecked in 1897 and the MS Riverdance Ferry, wrecked in 2008, are punched into the steel frame. A view looking north towards Rossall.
