Common chameleon, Chamaeleo chamaeleon, also called Mediterranean Chamaeleon, from Malta.
The common chameleon has a wide distribution range from southern Europe to Northern Africa. The mainly hide in shrubs and bushes. As other species it feeds mainly on is commonly believed that chameleon change their skin coloration for the purpose of blending in their environment, camouflage. However color change is more likely to be used for intra-specific communication and the expression of emotions. It also depends on temperature and light exposure. This specimen was found in a dry area in Malta.
