The arches of the Wilmington Rail Viaduct can be seen to the left as they pass behind the gasometers of the Wilmington Gas Company. To the right and in front of the gasometers is the Harlan Plant of Bethlehem Steel, formerly Harlan and Hollingsworth, including a roundhouse and launching slips. Several Wilson Line steamers are moored on the Christina River in front of the plant. Upriver (toward the viewer) lies an abandoned plate girder swing bridge of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad's South Side Extension. To the right of the river is the blacktopped South Wilmington Causeway (South Market Street), Route 13. The four storage tanks arranged in a square between the causeway and the river are part of an Atlantic Refining Company facility.
