The Navy aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CV-6) in flames after the ship was hit by a kamikaze off Kyushu on the 14th May 1945. The forward elevator, weighing many tons, can be seen thrown up by the blast. The photo was taken from USS Essex (CV-9).
